Exercise 5 · Build your first screen: a clickable prototype and a peer test
| Time | 35 minutes, including a 5-minute peer test, after the A · Assemble a prototype slides |
|---|---|
| Blueprint sections | 10 Prototype review |
| You need | Your AI assistant with its canvas or preview feature (Claude Artifacts, ChatGPT Canvas or Gemini Canvas); your Blueprint with sections 8 and 9 filled in; a partner for the peer test |
| You leave with | A first screen or clickable prototype for your main user journey, notes from one peer test, and a review of what works, what is simulated and what still needs building |
| Safety tip | Use made-up sample data in your prototype. Never put real names, emails or client details in it |
Where you are
You have a brief and an architecture. Now you build something people can see and click. It is a prototype: it looks and feels like the product, but much of it is simulated. That is fine. Its job is to make your idea concrete enough to test and discuss.
What you will make
One screen, or a few linked screens, for the main user journey: the one task your product exists to help with. You build it in the assistant's canvas or preview, improve it twice, watch a partner try it, and then review it honestly.
For TutorDesk, the main journey is a parent booking a lesson: open the tutor's page, see free slots this week, pick one, enter a first name and email, and see a confirmation. In the prototype nothing is saved and no email is sent: those parts are simulated.
