Put it in front of someone, then decide honestly

A demo is not a launch. This session covers your first real user, what it costs, and how to decide what happens next.

IGNITE 02

Demo vs launch

A demo

  • You drive; they watch
  • Shows that it could work
  • Tells you what people say

A first real use

  • They drive; you watch and keep quiet
  • Shows whether they reach the value moment
  • Tells you what people do

This week’s bar: someone other than you reaches the value moment, unaided.

IGNITE 03

A first-user test in five steps

  1. RECRUITOne person like your user, booked for 15 minutes on Day 5
  2. SET THE TASKA realistic goal, not instructions: “hand over this unfinished job”
  3. WATCHSay nothing; note where they pause, misclick or ask
  4. COUNTDid they reach the value moment? How long did it take?
  5. ASK“What would you do next time this happens?” Past and future, kept apart

One honest observation beats ten compliments about the demo.
