THIS SESSION 01

What you will leave with this session

  • Choose a narrow first segment and name today’s alternatives, including doing nothing
  • Write a value proposition and name the riskiest assumption behind it
  • Define the first value moment and the smallest MVP, with scope in and out
  • Describe a system in plain English: interface, logic, data
  • Explain what an ADR records and why

OUTPUT · A draft value proposition and first value moment in product/01-route.md

WHO IT IS FOR 02

Early adopters: who to serve first

  1. HAS THE PROBLEMIt happens to them often, not once a year
  2. KNOWS ITThey can describe it without you explaining it first
  3. IS LOOKINGThey have tried a workaround or asked for a fix
  4. CAN ACTThey can decide to try it without a long approval chain
  5. REACHABLEYou can talk to one of them tomorrow

Start where all five are true. A narrow group you can reach beats a big market you can’t.

ALTERNATIVES 03

Your competitors are alternatives, not only products

What you think you compete with

  • Other handover or task apps with similar features
  • Large vendors with bigger budgets

What shift leads use today

  • A group chat, a whiteboard and a paper log
  • A shared spreadsheet nobody quite trusts
  • A phone call to whoever is on next
  • Doing nothing, and living with the odd dropped job

Doing nothing is free and familiar. Beat it clearly, or people will not switch.
